If you’ve never traveled to Boston in the fall, I would advise a visit if you can. It is a beautiful time of year to go, but if not then, still go. There is so much to see, especially history.

The trip my husband and I took to Boston back in 2016 was one part of what inspired my debut novel, Love Beyond the Ashes. Below are some pictures and sights that stood out during that wonderful trip. I hope one day I get to go back and explore more of the east coast.

My husband and I on the Freedom Trail in the city. Our tour guide was wonderful in both his costume attire and his knowledge about the different sites on the trail.

A snapshot of one side of Paul Revere's house. It looked so out of place against the other buildings. But of course, a lot has changed since he lived there!

The Printing Office of Edes and Gill is located on the Freedom Trail and gave us an authentic experience of how printing was done in colonial times.

This trip was before I really got into my research, not realizing the infamous Liberty Tree was cut down back in 1775. Needless to say I was a little disappointed at the site.

A place we found very interesting and unexpected, was the museum at Harvard. It was much bigger than we thought it would be since it was part of a college and worth a visit if you're in the area. Cambridge is also one the main settings you'll find in Love Beyond the Ashes.

We also took the opportunity to drive up the coast of Maine and sought out lighthouses as a game to enjoy the drive and scenery. One of our stops included the city of Portland, which is another setting you'll find in Love Beyond the Ashes, except in 1775, it is the city of Falmouth, Massachusetts.
