As both an author and proofreader with training from The PEN Institute, membership in The Christian PEN, and over three years of editing experience, I understand how important it is for every word on the page to shine. Share your project with me.
My proofreading rate is $.01 per word (e.g., a 50,000-word manuscript would be $500). My copyediting rate is $.02–$.03 per word, depending on how much work is needed. If you'd like, I can provide a 1,000-word sample to see if I'd be a good fit for your goals.
I'll send you my contract based on our agreed terms.
Once a contract is signed, I’ll make my edits and return your project with Tracked Changes.

FAQs

Q. What is your turnaround time?

A. Turnaround depends on project length and my current schedule, but a standard novel (70,000–80,000 words) typically takes about 3–4 weeks. Shorter projects may be finished sooner. I’ll always provide a clear timeline upfront.

Q: What's the difference between proofreading and editing?

A: Proofreading is the final polish—correcting grammar, punctuation, spelling, and consistency errors. Editing, on the other hand, often involves deeper changes to style, structure, clarity, or even story content. I currently focus on proofreading and copyediting. But if you need a developmental or line edit, I'd be happy to refer you to an expert.

Q: Which programs do you use to make your edits?

A: I primarily work with Microsoft Word and Google Docs using Track Changes, which lets you see every correction I make. I can also review PDFs on Adobe if preferred.

Q: Do you use a style guide?

A: Yes, I primarily use The Chicago Manual of Style to make my edits. Other tools I use are Merriam-Webster's dictionary and The Christian Writer's Manual of Style if the story has religious components. If you use a different a style guide like APA or MLA, or need one created, I can do that.

Q: How much do you charge?

A: My rate is $0.01 per word for a proofread and $0.02-0.03 for a copyedit, depending on how much work is needed. I’ll provide an exact quote once I review your project.

Q: Do you offer a free sample?

A: Yes! I’m happy to edit a sample (around 1,000 words) so you can see my style and make sure it’s a good fit before committing.

Q: Do you work with all genres?

A: I work with both fiction and nonfiction. I especially enjoy romance, historical, Christian/inspirational, and general fiction, but I welcome a wide range of projects.

Q: What payment options do you accept?

A: I currently accept payments via PayPal and direct invoice (credit/debit card through Stripe). For clients who prefer working through Upwork, I’m happy to arrange payment there as well.

Q: Will you keep my work confidential?

A: Absolutely. Your manuscript is your work, and I treat every project with complete confidentiality.

Q: Are there any works you will not edit?

A: Yes. I will not edit any sexuality, occult, horror, or any works that have been AI-generated. For more information on current definitions and laws pertaining to AI-generated and AI-assisted use, please refer to the United States Copyright Office and Amazon KDP.
